A brief piece ran on the Hollywood Reporter website, clarifying the international availability of Woody Allen’s upcoming 2016 Amazon Series. In response to enquiries from markets that don’t have their Instant Video service, Amazon say they are open to licensing out the new series.
Amazon Prime Instant video is only available in the US, UK and Germany. What of other countries? According to Amazon Studios vp Roy Price:
In the past, we have licensed our series to local broadcasters in various territories.
In Australia, it looks like streaming service Stan has rights to Amazon Studio’s shows such as ‘Transparent‘ and ‘Mozart In the Jungle‘.
With ‘Transparent‘ being a critical hit, we expect international networks will be looking to do deals with Amazon. Most likely, they will be multi-year, multi-series deals that will include Allen’s new series. The question is how soon it will follow the Amazon release.
Not much more news on the series in the article – we eagerly await any updates.
