The Bullets Over Broadway Musical has opened at the St James Theatre in New York. From all accounts the show was a success, with lots of positive comments and photos on social media.
For those who don’t already know, Bullets Over Broadway is based on the 1994 Woody Allen film. Allen wrote the book for the new musical and took a role in choosing the music. It’s directed by Susan Stroman and stars Brooks Ashmanskas, Zach Braff, Nick Cordero, Marin Mazzie, Vincent Pastore, Betsy Wolfe, Lenny Wolpe, Helene Yorke and Karen Ziemba.
It’s been a long journey to get to this stage, and even getting to previews is a huge achievement. Interestingly enough, Allen himself, a big fan of theatre, does not seem to have been there himself.

What we are still short on is actual details on the show! Songs, script changes, what happened to Rob Reiner’s character? We will have to wait for reviews…which will hopefully come soon!
Did you see the show? What did you think?

Just returned from Bullets Over Broadway. It was a valentine to the golden age of Broadway, the humor and loving arrangements of old songs had Woody’s fingerprints, and some echoes of The Producers and
Groucho Marx musicals. A HIT!
