A new story from the New York Post has lifted the lid on the casting of the Bullets Over Broadway Musical. Amongst the more prominent roles yet to be cast is the one of Helen Sinclair. But one name has emerged as the leading contender – Marin Mazzie.
The also reveals that a number of big names have auditioned for the part – and some of these legends don’t usually audition for people. Patti LuPone, Bernadette Peters (who appeared in Alice) and Betty Buckley (who appeared in Another Woman) have auditioned for Woody Allen and director Susan Stroman.
But despite those star names, sources claim Marin Mazzie to be Allen’s favourite. But she’s not the big name draw that the producers want. She will continue to be part of the workshop for now.
The role of Helen Sinclair is not the only one still up for grabs. The role of Cheech, played by Chazz Palminteri in the film version, is still up for grabs.
We expect the announcements to be made very soon, as tickets are already onsale for a March preview.
