Two new DVD Box sets are to be released next month in UK. Also, Woody Allen: A Documentary is available to pre-order, to be released on both DVD and Blu-Ray on 24th September.
The two new box sets are from 20th Century Fox. The most interesting one is The Woody Allen 20 Film Collection. As the name suggests, it’s a 20 DVD set. It covers 19 Woody Allen written and directed films, from Bananas (1971 his second feature) to Shadows And Fog (1991, his 20th). They’ve also included Melinda And Melinda, completing the set. This run of films contains the movies that made Allen’s reputation. Annie Hall, Manhattan, Hannah And Her Sisters, Crimes And Misdemeanors and much more. This set is released 2nd July 2012.
The second box set is The Woody Allen 4 Film Collection. The four films are Annie Hall, Manhattan, Hannah And Her Sisters and Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex. The first three are considered Woody Allen’s very best, and some of the greatest films of the 20th century. It’s the perfect starter pack. This set is released 2nd July 2012.
Finally, Woody Allen: A Documentary is available to pre-order. Available in DVD and Blu-Ray from Soda Pictures, details are pretty spare right now. We assume this is the theatrical, 2 hour version and we don’t know about special features – but we will update this information as it comes in.
